No matter how bad things are now (and they’re pretty bad!), I’ll always remember how sick I felt as a kid after this result. For the first time in my lifetime, North End were on Match of the Day (Des Lynam and all) and we were embarrassed. I suppose it helped to prepare me up for a lifetime of footballing disappointment…
It might have been just about the only good thing Darren Carter has done in a PNE shirt, but what a goal it was – the goal that effectively saved us from relegation at the end of the season.
Who put the ball in the Blackpool net? Super Mickey Conroy, of course.
Rare footage of David Beckham’s famous free-kick for PNE vs Fulham, plus the man himself talking about how much he enjoyed his time at Deepdale.
“Gregan, from the halfway line” was how the chant went – as this footage shows, it wasn’t quite the halfway line but it was still a brilliant goal from an all-time PNE legend.
It might not be the most spectacular goal ever scored on Deepdale’s hallowed turf, but Mark Rankine’s late, late goal against Birmingham sparked possibly the wildest scenes of celebration I’ve ever seen. Relive the moment again and feel the hairs stand up on the back of your neck!
